Nelson School District Announces Interim Principal

Gordon first joined SAU 29 in 2015 as a Language Arts Teacher at Chesterfield School where she also completed her internship in School Administration (2019-2020). Prior to joining SAU 29, Mrs. Gordon taught secondary English at Belchertown High School (MA). Gordon completed her Post Masters Certificate in Education – Educational Leadership from Keene State College. Currently, Gordon is the Assistant Principal at Stevens High School in Claremont, NH.

A selection committee comprised of school staff members, a parent, a school board member, and SAU 29 administrators completed a month-long search process consisting of first-round interviews followed by a second round of onsite interviews with the finalists. After a thorough review of stakeholder feedback along with final search committee deliberations, the Nelson School Board unanimously selected Mrs. Gordon to serve in this critical position. Gordon will succeed current Nelson Principal Kelsey Kilburn whose final day in the position will be December 22, 2021.

In this position, Mrs. Gordon will be responsible for directing the overall site operations, services, and staff of the school. Nelson School is a small rural school with an enrollment of 63 students in grades K-5, servicing students from the Nelson and Sullivan communities.

“I am grateful to the Search Committee and the stakeholders of the Nelson School community for their time and efforts to select an educational leader who will continue to uphold the tenets of the culture of the school while moving the District forward,” said Assistant Superintendent Ben White. “I look forward to starting the New Year with Mrs. Gordon.”
