Hard to believe we’re into June now, but we are and the end of the school year is quickly approaching! We’re down to our final 11 - 14 days of school, depending on which school we’re talking about and then all of our students and staff will be able to take a much needed and well-deserved break for the summer months.
It seems as though summer temperatures have arrived for the earlier part of this week. We are monitoring that in regard to our buildings and encouraging the following in response to the hotter temperatures:
- Increasing mask breaks when proper distancing can be maintained.
- Increasing water breaks throughout the day.
- Increasing the use of shaded space outdoors.
I want to thank all of the respondents to the feedback probe we put out last week. Your input is helping to guide the “opening plan” for the 2021-2022 school year. If you didn’t respond to that probe, please don’t worry. There will be another opportunity to weigh in before we finalize the plan moving forward.
Along this line, the NH Department of Education is also administering a survey to all parents and guardians enrolled in NH public schools. The first half of the survey is for all parents and the second half of the survey is for parents and guardians of students with an IEP. NHDOE has also provided a survey link for staff as well as community members. It is estimated that the survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. These surveys will be open until June 30th for input and you may receive this information from your school as well.
I know, many of you are surveyed out at this point. I apologize for that, but it is important that we ask for, receive and consider the perspectives of our key stakeholders. You need to have a voice in this and participation is strictly up to each individual. Please don’t assume that we will be able to include everyone’s ideas exactly how they may want it to be. We will absolutely do our best, but like I stated last week, I cannot guarantee that. What I can assure you is that all feedback is reviewed, even if it is not directly responded to, and has given us something to consider that we may or may not have thought about in the first place.
Shifting gears, The NHDOE has also asked that we share some information with you regarding possible benefits you may qualify for. Please see the linked Parent Letter and Program Flyer from the NHDOE for additional information. Additionally, I am also including the Free and Reduced Meals Application as well for families that may qualify for this program. I want to put a couple of “Shout Outs” out there for jobs well done as we continue to bring closure to the school year. First, to the Keene Community Education Program for their graduation ceremony on May 27th. Despite a late change in venue from the high school to the middle school, they held a beautiful ceremony celebrating the students earning their high school diplomas. Many of the students have inspiring stories that reflect the resilience it took in order for them to complete their program. To top it off, they did so through the uncertainty of the pandemic and is a true indication of the perseverance they’ve endured! Congratulations to the 38 combined students from the classes of 2020 and 2021!
Next, a hooray for the student completers in our Career and Technical Education programs at Keene High School in the Cheshire Career Center. The staff at the CCC held a recognition night last week to honor their achievements, and to announce some scholarship recipients. Each of the programs at the CCC also recognized a top student and in a couple of instances students for their outstanding performances and contributions to the program as a whole throughout the year. Outstanding job by each of these students as well!
Please take advantage of these last couple of weeks to connect with your child(ren)’s teacher(s), counselor(s) and principal(s) as we close out the year. Finishing strong as we head into the summer is a goal we would all like to achieve. Stay safe everyone and please...
COVID-19 Data: NOT UPDATED THIS WEEK AS NHDHHS HAS CHANGED THEIR REPORTING PROTOCOLS.
Providing all of the COVID-19 data that we have been tracking since the onset of the pandemic back in March, 2020.
Confirmed COVID-19 Positives that our school personnel are aware of from the beginning of school year 2020-2021 (numbers from 1-4 will be suppressed to help protect individual privacy). These are aggregated so that it does not identify either student or staff and provided in both the most recent weekly totals as well as the totals for the entire school year.
E-Flyer Distribution Program: As a reminder, there are many flyers that our schools are asked to send home throughout the school year. We also post these flyers on our website and it can be found by going to this E-Flyer Distribution Program embedded link.
Last Day for Students Early Release Schedule
Meals: Every student in SAU 29 and all children 18 and under are eligible for free meals through June 2021. Regardless of learning plan, meals for all students are free at this time. If students are attending in-person they may receive free meals during their regular lunch period and will not be eligible for remote meals.
ONLY fully remote students and students that do not attend a public school will be entitled to pick up remote meals curbside as outlined below.
- Students attending school fully remote with 5 remote days per week will receive 5 days’ worth of meals available for Wednesday pick-up.
- Students not enrolled in public school may receive 5 days’ worth of meals available for Wednesday pick-up.
Please do not sign up under a parent name, use your student’s name only.

Please submit your order for the following week's meals no later than 7:00am Friday, June 11th. You will receive an email confirmation after placing your order. This form is to order meals for remote pick up on Wednesday, June 16th.

Screening Assessment: Please continue to complete the screening assessment each school day. This allows our school nurses to continue to monitor and provide support with regard to the health of the school community. Please note that we are not requesting that this be done on the weekends, holidays or breaks, only on days that school would typically be in session.
Special Education: The needs of students with disabilities are enormously important. As always, your first point of contact is your child’s special education teacher or building principal. Please reach out to them anytime and share your thoughts. You may also contact the Student Services Offices at SAU 29 at 357-9001 extension 230 or email email@example.com. Please if you have not already picked up your student’s Chromebook for the 1:1 program we need you to print and sign the agreement HERE .
We can not release the Chromebook to your student until we get a signed agreement. Please send the agreement in with your student.
Parents and Students, Chromebooks should be used for your school work only. Please do not eat while using your school issued Chromebook. We are experiencing high volumes of damaged Chromebooks due to spills. Please make sure you fill in the online registration for your students. It is important to have all the correct information in place.
